I look forward to tomorrow, It's a new year! What will it bring? I'm not usually one of those people that make new year's resolutions, and I don't think I'm going to start now. But, I'm using the new year as a starting point to get me motivated to take good care of myself.
I'm looking forward to getting more exercise, I love to exercise, always feel so much happier after a good walk or work out! Anyone want to walk with me? I walk down at Lake Hodges with my dog Nari, sometimes I go over to Kit Carson Park and then there are days I'll go to Felicita Park. Today I started down to Kit Carson, wanted to take some pictures of the birds on the pond, but half way there, Nari puked in my car, YUCK! I made a U-turn and took her home. But I still made it down to Hodges for a bit of picture taking. With Hope doing her own driving, my schedule is pretty flexible, so call me if you want to do a spontaneous walk!
Tomorrow I'm going to drag the scale back into my bathroom, I took it out a while back, but I think I need the daily reminder. I'm going to measure myself, you know all the places that my fat likes to store it's self. I've read and been told not to care what the scale says, it's the measurements that count. Muscle weighs more than fat! I'm going to use a pair jeans that are way to tight right now as my biggest measuring stick!
This would be a good time to say a prayer for me and yourself if you decide to join me!
Love you all!

How do we get our families behind us?
I've been thinking how to get my family to help me, but not make me crazy when I want to eat something I shouldn't be. Ever have that happen? You know sometimes you just got to have something yummy! It's just that we tend to let it happen to often.
I'm trying to get Steve to workout with me, but he only really wants to ride bikes. I've never been terribly comfortable on a bike seat and with my bone spur on my shoulder, I think biking is out. Hope says she wants to do a regular aerobics class, maybe she and I can sign up somewhere and do that. But I don't think once a week will do it for me. So I'm down to my faithful Dog Nari, she and I walk/run down at the lake when ever I can get my lazy butt down there.
Anyone want to start a exercising group? Get together and walk, do some sit-ups, etc...???
The other thing I'd love to discuss is good food, easy to make, and food that everyone enjoys eating. Let's throw out ideas for each other. I know I get in to a rut, make the same things over and over again. I'd love easy, yummy, good for you recipes.

Why we need each other!
New Year...New Decisions!
With the new year approaching in just a few days, I've come to the conclusion that I need to start to take better care of myself. For the past 5 or 6 years I've let my weight creep up, always using the excuse of some sort of injury. I can remember my doctor telling me a few years ago, that lack of exercise is no excuse for weight gain. He said, "just eat less!" At the time I scoffed at him, but as I look back at his words, that have really stuck in my mind, I know he is right!
So now it is time to deal with it! I'm asking friends to join me in this endeavor to gain back my health. I believe that if we become accountable to even one other person, we're more likely to follow through with our plans.
This is why I have started this blog spot. I'd like to see each of us say what our plan is, how we will attack the problem and what our final goal is. I know I can only move forward with encouragement and companionship in this need to get back my health. I've noticed with the extra weight my back hurts, my neck is always stiff, I'm bloated, gassy, irritable, lazy, and most days I don't like what I see in the mirror at all. It isn't just the pudginess, it's the bags under my eyes, the dry skin, even zits, weren't they suppose to end in the late teen years?
I'm going to pray about how to go about this. Stay tuned! Add your thoughts! Let's get healthy!!!

Tough Beginning! The dreaded photo op!
Okay, first thing first, I had Steve take pictures of me in a tight shirt and shorts. That was hard, it became apparent right away I have been in denial for sometime. It is killing me to have to post them right here for all to see!!!
Next, I weighed myself, ah...umm...yeah... do I have to say? Honesty!! Okay, I weighed in at a whopping 164, ouch! I knew I should never have taken the scale out of my bathroom! But now everyone knows. It's all down hill form here, right?
Then I went and got my sewing measurement tape and started measuring the bod!
Neck -12"
Arms - 12.75
Breast - 41.50
Waist - 35
Tummy - 40.5
Butt - 41.5
Thigh - 23
No wonder I just sort of look like a tube, not much variation in the sizes.
My plan is to work really hard on taking the fat off the areas that don't need it and build up muscles where I do! So, how am I going to do this? First cut out calories, I'm not going to do anything drastic, but those mid-morning snacks and late afternoon snacks have got to be either removed or a better food choice to replace the junk food.
I want to post each day what I ate the day before, it might be a bit of a bore for some of you, but it will allow me to see where I'm cheating and hopefully some of you will join me in this and post your own stats and what your doing to get in shape.
It's 4pm and I'm a bit hungry, this is the hard time of day for me, I like to snack as I prepare dinner, so please when you think of me, send up a little prayer for me!
Till tomorrow, keep the Lord close!
